Maintained Medical Staff Office Application (Informix/SQL), which tracks provider credentials required by HCFA. Trained users on all new functions, relational database theory, and SQL queries. Developed database, reports, and user documentation. Additionally, I managed a consultant developer.Support analyst for the Medical Records department’s chart tracking system. Managed the conversion to Novell network. This position required clear communication between the department, software vendor (SoftMed), Information Systems, and other internal departments. Trained users and set up the system for release of information area.

Worked in various capacities for Medical Systems Management to develop a new medical information system. Part of a two-person database team that documented and modeled the production system, reviewed new requirements, and created the conceptual data model for the new system using object-oriented methodology. Also participated creating workflow and dataflow diagrams. Eventually, when I was employed at Epic Systems Corp., Harvard purchased Epic Systems instead of continuing their own development. I was Epic’s installer for Harvard.

1986–1987  Medical Systems Supervisor
Supervised 4 full-time programmers and managed consultants for a variety of applications.

1984–1986  MA Programmer/Analyst
In addition to software development, managed various sized projects that involved coordinating team members of diverse responsibilities (from data entry clerks to Deputy Medical Director). The largest of these was the development of a clinical reminder system. Primary responsibility was to enhance and maintain the medical record system.

Primarily wrote programs to track blood donors and blood products. Had major role in training and hiring of programming staff. Additional duties were operational: performance and disc space management, coordination of hardware maintenance, and installation of operating system updates

“For artful EpicCare Installs. For independent Achievement”(This award was presented to me after I had given notice to leave Epic!)

1996 Epic Systems Corporation: “It’s a Bird It’s a Plane Award”
(Epic’s award system is based on Superman). This award was presented in Recognition of the Mayo Clinic installation, which went very smoothly.

1985 Harvard Community Health Plan: “Diamond Award”
“In recognition of project leadership, and for supporting the HCHP corporate goals of service, quality, cost containment, and staff satisfaction.”
